Painting of Pets

 

Sometimes people ask me to paint their pets and give me photos of them to work off of. This works but an Artist of Today really needs several photos or even visits with the pet. The main objective of  any painting of pets is to show the personality of that particular pet and what makes him/her an interesting subject. 

That is the personality you want in a painting. This is what a pet owner wants to see captured on canvas. This is why pet owners commission paintings of pets in the first place.

The above painting is a  grey Calico Cat named Jigsaw who loved to climb in boxes, bags, towels, anything to remain partially hidden. This was her essence. I couldn’t paint her any other way.
