Being an Artist of Today

Being an Artist of Today, I find it hard to stay in one genre of Art. I like to dabble in everything. Here on my website, deewrightart.com you will find that I have several irons in the fire, so-to-speak. I love to paint Western themed acrylics, paintings of pets, but I also love to paint emotional off-the-cuff Abstracts. Heavy use of color and manic brushstokes beckons to my soul to breathe, when I need to, whereas, tight subject matter allows my perfectionist nature to take over.  I think the Artist of Today wants to try different things. One of my favorite sayings of all is “label cans, not people.” I think that speaks of artists, too.  Let us be the wild creatures we are and just create choosing any style. Being an Artist of Today, I guess if I had to put a label on myself it would be for my consistent use of color. COLORist, perhaps? Any Thoughts?
